In partnership with Taste Holdings, Starbucks today announced two more locations in Johannesburg and Pretoria opening at the end of August. In Johannesburg, coffee lovers in the east will now be able to enjoy their favourite Starbucks beverages in Eastgate Shopping Centre, and Pretoria’s Brooklyn Mall will also host a new Starbucks store.
“Being able to offer the Starbucks experience to new communities is always an exciting journey for us. We have an eager team of partners ready to serve the Brooklyn and Eastgate communities,” says Carlo Gonzaga, CEO of Taste Holdings.
Starbucks is committed to developing young people into industry-leading baristas and the store teams have been recruited form underserved communities through Taste’s Changing Lanes programme, which focuses on giving opportunities to currently unemployed youth.
Both stores will offer the full Starbucks experience including the Starbucks core range of 100% Arabica coffee, a fresh food selection, an exciting range of Teavana teas and free high-speed Wi-Fi. The Starbucks beverages will be brought to life through a variety of brewing methods, including Siphon, and Pour-Over. If your prefer something cooler, Starbucks will also offer their Frappuccino blended beverages and cold shaken iced teas.
Starbucks is known the world over as the ‘third place’ - between home and your work. For Starbucks, the third place experience is a mix between store design, innovative and tailored-to-you coffee offering and, of course, the focus on customer service. “Each of these stores were designed to be the ultimate ‘third place’”, says Gonzaga.
New customers can look forward to an enhanced in-store experience through Starbucks Rewards, the Starbucks loyalty programme. Starbucks Rewards allow customers to earn loyalty points and conveniently pay at stores through the Starbucks mobile app, eliminating the need for cash in store.
Starbucks in Brooklyn Mall opens on 26 August with the store in Eastgate Shopping Centre opening on 29 August.
