South Africans can now satisfy their Krispy Kreme cravings on the go

Have you ever been struck by a Krispy Kreme craving in the middle of the night – with no
way to satisfy it? Now, the Krispy Kreme South Africa team has made it possible for you to
get your fix of the freshest doughnuts whenever the craving hits you. Krispy Kreme – in a
first in the South African market – is rolling out to local petrol stations and supermarkets.
Krispy Kreme South Africa will expand its off premise sales to 23 stores across
Johannesburg, Pretoria and KwaZulu Natal. The ‘off premise’ sales model is already a hit in
markets such as the UK and Australia, where it comprises around 40% of the total Krispy
Kreme business.

South Africa is one of only 5 markets that are rolling out the initiative. South Africa’s status
as a new, emerging market makes it easier to test this concept. The local team is
technologically advanced and operationally well-established, with a proven track record of
success over the last three years. The team boasts fantastic management skills, experience
in the industry and a talent for world class product innovation, making it ideal to provide
best practice for other markets looking to adopt this model.
For Krispy Kreme South Africa, off premise sales are all about creating greater accessibility
to its delectable doughnuts. While Krispy Kreme will now be available in more locations,
quality will not be compromised. Krispy Kreme is famous for delivering FRESH doughnuts to
each store daily. Deliveries will occur once a day and doughnuts will be sold ‘while stocks
last’.

South Africans can now get their delicious Krispy Kreme doughnuts on the go in more areas,
more often. Be on the lookout for the roll out of off premise stores in both Gauteng and
KwaZulu Natal.

Krispy Kreme South Africa opened its first off premise store on the 17 September at the
Engen Garage in Watermeyer, Pretoria.

CANSA TO HAVE MOBILE UNIT AND SHAVATHON AT THE 13TH AVON JUSTINE ITHEMBA WALKATHON

The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) will this year have a mobile unit at the 13th annual iThemba Walkathon due to take place at Marks Park on Sunday, 21 October.

The mobile unit will be operated by qualified nurses and will be able to take participants through a full assessment as well as refer them to the relevant doctors or hospitals where a participant shows any of the symptoms of breast cancer. The assessment will highlight risk factors as well as ways to help minimise them. “Having the CANSA mobile unit onsite this year will add new value to the overall iThemba Walkathon experience in line with Avon’s breast cancer promise to ensure that no South African woman is kept in the dark about the disease,” says Katlego Modipane, Communications Affairs Officer at Avon Justine.

In addition to the mobile unit, CANSA will also have a shavathon on the day where participants can either shave their hair or colour it in support of the organisation.

This is a fun activity which can also be very emotional as a lot of the iThemba Walkathon participants have been affected by breast cancer personally or know someone close to them who has.

With over 29 500 participants in 2017, the iThemba Walkathon is the largest breast cancer awareness event in the Avon world which consists of over 50 countries. The 2018 edition promises to be the best yet but will be limited to just 30 000 participants. Registrations are open on ithembawalkathon.co.za with tickets costing just R145 per adult and R100 per child.

Registrations can also be made on printed entry forms obtainable from participating Sportsman Warehouse stores.

Take a Trip through the Enchanted Forest with Lily Hollows’ New Single

‘DON’T LOOK BACK’ NOW AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE

Inline image

There’s something mysterious about the young and timorous Lily Hollows. She is often afraid to disturb others and tip-toes around like a magical fairy, leaving a feeling of mysticism in her wake.

Wanting to capture this essence, the Johannesburg-based singer songwriter ventured into the Sabie woodlands to shoot the video for her new single ‘Don’t Look Back’.

The song is a follow-up to her highly successful debut release Daddy I’m Gone; this single a little more mature and serious in tone and delivery. At face value, the song appears an ordinary love story between a boy and girl and their interactions, but the song itself has a much deeper meaning.

Lily explains, “The girl in the forest is telling her present self not to look back and focus on the past, but to embrace her current circumstances. It comes across as a love story between a boy and a girl, but it's really a love story between her past and present self.”

The song was penned when she was only 16-years-old (now 19), the beautiful songstress is already wise beyond her years.

“I wrote the song because I believe that as people, we are our own harshest critics. We need to be patient with ourselves and realize that we're doing the best we can. It's about self-love, reflection and inner growth,” she continues.

A common theme in her songs, Hollows always strives to create music that is relatable and loaded with raw emotion. A fresh face in the industry, Lily’s neo-soul vocals offer a unique sound that’s engaging and memorable.

Lily Hollows once again teamed up with newbie videographer Petri Schoeman, bringing to life her idea of an enchanted forest.

She recalls how the song first came to fruition, describing the nostalgic moment: “My 16-year old self was sitting at my piano, playing around with some chords. I hummed a melody, but I didn't know what the song was about yet. It sounded different. I remember how focused I was on trying to find the deeper meaning behind these chords, because they sounded so simplistic, yet filled with a certain richness. It was only until my best friend told me to write what I hear that things rolled into action. I closed my eyes and this enchanted forest unfolded in my mind. I was inspired by what I heard; I saw a girl running in a magical forest, entranced by her surroundings, whether it was the sunrise or the mystical trees.”

Don’t Look Back’ will form part of her much-anticipated five track debut EP, Little Glass Girl, set for release 5 October.

TAAL MOMUMENT SPRINGS TO LIFE

THE once contested Taal Monument in Paarl will transform into a beehive of cultural activity with the One World Festival on the 6th and 7th October.

The festival is a celebration of spring, renewal, diversity and our common humanity. The popular Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels and Emo Adams will be amongst the entertainers that will rock Paarl.

Sammy Webber, Nur Abrahams, Jarrad Rickets, Salome, Heart & Soul, Loren Erasmus, Allou April’s Goema Movement, and Emile YX? & Mixed Mense will also be showcasing their talents

The monument forms part of the Paarl Arboretum, a local treasure, that plays host to this annual event. The Arboretum is situated on the eastern bank of the Berg River, is 2.8 km long and occupies approximately 31 ha. Divided into 6 “continents” a unique feature is that trees and shrubs are grouped according to continents of origin.

This year all the entertainment happens centrally at the Taal Monument.

Lovetta Bolters, executive member of Camissa, said she was excited about the festival. “We have great musicians. Story-telling, Origami, spoken word, food stalls, a beer garden, wine bars and great entertainment for the kids completes the festival experience, in an idyllic setting. We will also celebrate the diverse contributions to the Afrikaans language, with free guided tours through the Monument on both days.

“History can be a fun experience! We will dance, sing and celebrate!” enthused Bolters.

Fringe activity will include an interaction with Major General Jeremy Vearey, who will discuss his recently published book, Jeremy vannie Elsies. Emile Jansen of Black Noise will showcase the Afrikaaps Hip Hop, and various poets will deliver readings in some of the beautiful nooks at the monument.

The festival will be launched at 12h00 on Wednesday 26 September when a sapling of a plant that survived the horrific Hiroshima bombing in 1946 will be planted at the Taal Monument.

The One World Festival happens on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October and doors open at 14h00. Tickets cost R250 for a weekend pass and R150 for a day pass. Tickets are available at Computicket and at all branches of Shoprite and Checkers.
