Afro Goes East is back for an exuberant showcase of the rich and diverse sounds of South Africa inspired music at Carnival City’s Big Top Arena on 14 October 2017. This one-of-a-kind concert offers afro-soul music lovers a chance to see some of their favorite artists collaborating on one stage. On the bill for this year’s event are top stars Zahara, iSicathamiya sensation Thee Legacy, Amanda Black and Charlie MindGames.
Multiple award winning and multi-platinum selling artist Zahara has released three successful albums and will perform some of her older material as well as her latest tracks “Imali” and “Bengirongo” on stage during Afro Goes East. Zahara, who has won a whapping eight South African Music Awards (SAMAs), released her debut album Loliwe in 2011 which proved to be a big success as it went Platinum in 13 days and went double-platinum after just 17 days, selling over 100,000 copies in South Africa. There has been no stopping her since.
Joining Zahara on stage is Thee Legacy, adding some iSicathamiya spice to the mix. The “Wena wedwa” hit making group was started by Jabulani Mthembu in 2009. Their music, a blend of indigenous culture, acapella fused with R&B, hip-hop and iSicathamiya, will have the audience begging for more. iSicathamiya means “to tip-toe” and is indigenous acapella music. It was created by miners who didn’t want to wake up their bosses so they would just sing and dance lightly. Thee Legacy’s distinctly African sound sets them apart from the rest and the performance by group members, Jabulani Mthembu, Khanyisani Mazibuko, Philani Duma, Emile Ngcobo and Simphiwe Sikhakhane is bound to thrill fans to the core.
Multi award winner and South Africa’s Afro Soul star, Amanda Black, will join the other artists on stage with all the hits that have made her a household name. This artist’s family members were requesting performances from her at age 6 and the rest, as they say, is history. This starlet has won several Metro and SAMA awards and is bound to win over some more hearts at Afro Goes East.
Charlie Mind Games, the stage persona of the very talented Zithobile Khoza from Kwa Themba on the far East Rand of Johannesburg, collaborates with the other artists on 14 October as well. By the age of thirteen, Charlie was already performing on stages across the country and his talent has seen him grow and reach greater heights with each passing year, the highlight of his career being backing super group, MiCasa on their All the glory album.

Tickets are available at Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers and House and Home ranging from R 100 to R 300 per person. Doors to the show open at 19h00 and at 20h00audiences can prepare to be serenaded by South Africa’s best.
