EFC welterweight title clash moves to the Grand Arena

GrandWest’s Grand Arena is the battleground for the year’s final EFC fight night in Cape Town. On 9 September 2017 fighters from across the globe will converge for a full card of action packed bouts. One of the highlights is the much-anticipated welterweight clash between the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC), Bruno “The Major” Mukulu and South Africa’s Dino “The Lion” Bagattin.

This bout was scheduled to take place in Sun City earlier this year but was cancelled after Bagattin suffered a concussion during training. Bagattin, the former welterweight champion, is renowned for his striking pedigree and “never say die” attitude. He is also the longest standing athlete on the EFC roster. The DRC’s Mukulu is fresh off a big win against Niel du Plessis and will be fighting hard to keep building on this momentum. He has been calling for a title shot, and a win over a former champion will push him closer to that goal.

With the intensity that only two athletes of such high calibre can bring, this highly anticipated clash will open the main card fights at GrandWest. There will be five main card fights on the night. The preliminary fights will start at 17h45, with the main card bouts kicking off at 21h00. Tickets are available at www.computicket.com and the five main card bouts will be broadcast live on kwesesports.com (Sub-Saharan Africa), Kwesé Free Sports 1 (Kenya and Rwanda) and live in South Africa on SABC 3 starting at 21:00 (CAT).
