Tshwane’s singing chef presents Phantom of the Opera dinner experience

Tshwane’s renowned singing celebrity chef, Fortunato Mazzone (Forti) gives dinner a theatrical twist on 18 October 2017 with a beautiful orchestrated, one night only, Phantom of the Opera experience at his restaurant, Forti Grill and Bar at Sun International’s Time Square

With the scene set for operatic drama, guests are invited to dress for the exclusive occasion and enjoy live performances by opera singers, directed by Chantress Ilse Mazzone, while they enjoy an inspired menu.

The menu is curated to match the occasion with an exquisite Scents-of-the-Sea-inspired starter of black coral, pink salmon, caviar and oysters, followed by a sophisticated Black-and-White-themed main course comprising fillet with black and white vegetables, white radish and black mashed potatoes. The sumptuous meal is completed with a dramatic opera cake. The Phantom of the Opera experience commences at 19h00 and booking is essential at R450 per person at info@forti.co.za

“At Forti Grill and Bar we make eating out an encompassing experience,” says Forti, who from the start, has been vocal about his vision to create a flagship restaurant of a truly international standard in Tshwane to give the Mother City a run for its money as South Africa’s long touted foodie destination.

On 25 October 2017, he teams up Thelema Mountain Vineyards – a family owned and managed wine estate which was recently voted one of the world’s top 100 wine producers – to present a food and wine pairing experience. The magnificent six course menu has been painstakingly designed, with wines carefully picked for each course, to deliver the sensory experience. Booking is essential.
Forti Grill and Bar is one of three distinctive establishments on the upper tier of Time Square. It is the product of Forti’s heart and soul, and indeed a reflection of his over 22 years of feeding the hearts and souls of loyal customers at his iconic, award winning restaurant, Ritrovo.
Forti Grill and Bar boasts a beautifully and luxuriously appointed dining room and a state of the art, showpiece kitchen that guests can survey through a giant viewing window as the action unfolds. The restaurant’s exquisite interior features olive trees, a reflective pond and some of the most exclusive bespoke furniture, chandeliers and lighting ever created for a South African restaurant, including a seven meter long masterpiece by Stephen Pikus created from recycled glass. The sound system, imported from Europe by Sonos, ensures the even spread of balanced music with no harshness and distortion to the whole restaurant. Huge canvasses by acclaimed South African artist Carinda Appelgryn are framed by natural stone in an interior designed to delight. Even the bathrooms are a visual treat.
