Heinz Winckler fans will be delighted to know that he will be performing at The Carousel’s Cheyenne Saloon this October. Winckler, rated one of the country’s best male vocalists, needs no introduction. He won the hearts of South Africans when he won the very first season of South African Idols in 2002.
Since winning, Winckler has been hard at work on his music career, releasing several songs which have topped the charts. His debut single, “Once in a lifetime” went double platinum in South Africa having sold over 100 000 copies. His subsequent debut album, “One step closer”, included this song as well as “Soledad”, a cover of the Westlife song which he performed during SA Idols, and “Next stop happiness”, which became a hit single as well.
Nominated for two South African Music Awards including best single for “Once in a Lifetime” and best pop album for One Step Closer, his mainly Afrikaans album, 24/7/365!, was launched in July 2011 and reached gold status by February the following year. The first single “1001 Soene”, climbed the SA music charts while the lead English single from the album, “Blindfolded”, co-written by American Idol winner Kris Allen, made it into the English Top 40 and took Adult Contemporary stations by storm.
Fans can look forward to hearing some of Winckler’s new material as well as some of the older hits which have kept him tops in the hearts of South Africans for over a decade. His show will start at 21h00 at Carousel’s Cheyenne Saloon on 27 October 2017 and tickets cost R80 per person and are available from Computicket. Doors open earlier at 19h00.
