Transformers soon to descend on GrandWest

It is less than a month until the Transformers Exhibition comes to GrandWest. The exhibition, which has left young fans awestruck in Gauteng, will see Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron and the Rescue Bots descend on Sun Exhibits, GrandWest for the galactic last leg of the Transformers Exhibition’s South African tour. The immersive and interactive exhibition, taking place from 10 November 2017 until 21 January 2018, features 14 animatronic Transformers, nine sculptures scaled between two and nine metres and another 20 statues varying in size. They are made from reused car parts, metal and other repurposed materials. The display spans over 2 500 square metres of floor space and takes over 20 days to build.

The walk through display depicts the rise of the Transformers from the iconic 1980s’ animated generation to the new age Rescue Bots and lastly, to the incredible scrap metal sculptures that represent the Transformers young children know today. The exhibition also features a children’s area where young fans can have their photos taken with Bumblebee and Optimus Prime costume characters, colour in, participate in Lego building, play games, have Transformers tattoos, watch movies and go wild on a jumping castle.

With a free downloadable Transformers Workbook, the Transformers Exhibition is not only a fun filled family outing but an educational experience too. Using Transformers as the theme, the 17 page Workbook covers the foundation phase subjects of Maths, Language and Life Skills to keep children engaged before, during and after they have attended the exhibition.

GrandWest’s PR and Promotions Manager, Elouise Matthys, says that the Transformers Exhibition will be one of the highlights of the festive season entertainment lineup for children at GrandWest.

“Sun Exhibits will be completely transformed for this exhibition which offers parents a fantastic option for keeping children entertained. The exhibition should also be of interest for schools taking learners on end of year outings.”

Tickets are sold per entry slot but visitors can spend as much time as they want at the exhibition, with the average visit taking about two hours. The Transformers Exhibition will be open daily between 10 November 2017 and 21 January 2018, from 10h00 to 19h00. Tickets are available from www.webtickets.co.za. Tickets are priced at R99 for adults and R89 for pensioners, students and children aged four to seven. Sun MVG cardholders receive a R20 discount on each ticket purchased.
