Sun International’s Golden Valley in Worcester has enthusiastically hopped onboard in support of Heart FM’s 16DaysForYouth campaign which saw the radio station shutting down its broadcast studio on 1 June 2017 for 16 days to undertake youth focused projects across the Western Cape. During the journey, Heart FM is broadcasting remotely from various locations and is involved in numerous community projects to help young people in need. The initiative is a spin off from the station’s #HeartBeats4Youth
As part of the campaign, Golden Valley donated R15 000 towards the Stop Hunger Now Foundation which has over 500 beneficiaries in Southern Africa and makes sure that thousands of people have something to eat every day. The staff of Golden Valley rallied to help pack 50 boxes, which is in excess of 11000 meals, on the day.
A local school, Avian Park Primary received 20 meal boxes. One box contains enough meals to feed 20 kids for a month. In addition to the meals, the Golden Valley Casino also sponsored educational toys and learning aids to the school for the benefit of the learners.
