Only a few months after emceeing a successful conference in Hong Kong, Liezel
van der Westhuizen has booked yet another exciting international opportunity – this time as a Master of
Ceremonies at a three-day conference in Venice.
“Landing a corporate gig of this calibre in the capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region is really a
dream come true and I look forward to building on these kinds of opportunities even more in the
future,” says Liezel.

Veneto is a North-Eastern Italian region stretching from the Dolomite Mountains to the Adriatic Sea. Venice,
its regional capital, is famed for its canals, Gothic architecture and Carnival celebrations. Veneto was part of
the powerful Venetian Republic for more than 1,000 years, between the 7th and 18th centuries.
Having kicked off her public speaking career on home ground in South Africa 10 years ago, Liezel has solidified
her globetrotter status; hosting events across the country, as well as in other international destinations such
as Bali, Thailand, United Kingdom, and the Seychelles.

Embracing the challenges and joys of diversity, her clients have ranged from high-flying financial institutions,
to tourism boards and sporting brands. Her infectious energy, sharp wit and panache have become the
hallmarks of Liezel’s brand and it is no surprise that her work receives consistent 5* reviews from clients.
Liezel recently became the first able-bodied South African to tandem cycle across the Himalayas from Manali
to Khardung La which is the highest motorable road in the world at 18,380 feet. This feat saw her cycling on a
tandem bike with a visually impaired cyclist to raise funds for ONE SIGHT and OPERATION SMILE. She set to
embark on yet another adventure with another visually impaired adventurer to raise funds for the African
Tails non-profit organization.

As a Personal Brand Expert, Liezel currently trains and mentors entrepreneurs around the world on the art of
building their personal brands. Apart from hosting events, Liezel is also often invited to conduct motivational
talks and deliver keynote addresses for various institutions. A few of her most notable topics include: ‘Beating
the Workplace Bully’, ‘Empowering Women’ and ‘Finding your inner strength’.
With a passion for education, Liezel notes that her degrees in Human Resources Management (B.COM) and
Communications (HONS and M.COM) have been instrumental in laying the foundation for what can only be
described as a rewarding and fulfilling career. Being part of the Toastmasters Society – where she has received
bronze and silver awards – also continues to give Liezel’s work an extra edge.
