Sun City Casino is refreshed

Slots and tables enthusiasts can look forward to an enhanced experience when visiting Sun City. In time for the Nedbank Golf Challenge, when thousands of visitors are set to descend on the resort, Sun City has completed a soft remodeling of the main casino floor. The floor revamp entails a revised floor plan to improve the flow of slots banks as well as a refreshment of soft furnishings.

The main smoking casino floor’s now has an overwhelming choice of 299 slot machines which was bolstered with 50 brand new Aristocrat Helix Machines during the refurbishment. Denominational and cosmetic changes have also been made, aligned with the new machines. This increases the number of slots across the casino to 700 and introduces the new mid-limit slots area. The refurbishment of the smoking casino floor follows the re-launch in 2016 of the Sun Privé, the high limits area where discerning guests can find exclusive sanctuary to play higher end slots and tables games.

“Sun City Casino continues to evolve; with new technologies and a contemporary look and feel aligned with the Vegas-style, always-on personality of the rejuvenated Soho (previously known as the Sun City Hotel). We are excited about our floor revamp and makeover. The new floor plan will improve the flow of guests and slots banks, creating a more seamless experience,” says Sammy Mokhele, Casino General Manager, Sun City.
Sun City became renowned as one of the first casinos in Southern Africa with two playing pits on the main floor and offering games such as American Roulette, Stud Poker, Punto Banco and Blackjack. The first Blackjack progressive - the Diamond Rush – started at Sun City and was later linked to other Sun International sites.

The transformation that the casino has undergone since then is quite spectacular. In 2014, the casino underwent an extensive refurbishment as part of a multi million Rand upgrade to the hotel. The interiors of the casino now echo the vibrant, fun-loving, yet sophisticated personality of the resort.

Sun International has invested considerably in upgrading the resort’s hotels and entertainment zones over the past three years to ensure that Sun City retains its iconic appeal and stays at the cusp of experiential entertainment and leisure offerings. 2016 saw the launch of the re-imagined Entertainment Centre, now Sun Central. The refreshed entertainment hub features a suite of new experiences for the whole family, conference facilities, restaurants and retail outlets. It is also home to the interactive South African Hall of Fame honouring the country’s most memorable achievers.
