The Funderland Expo is coming to GrandWest in Cape Town from the 28th
of March to the 7th of April 2018. This unique 11-day event creates a magical
world of fun activities, shows and demonstrations, competitions and games to
delight and amaze the entire family. The show will go on to tour throughout the
country, so people across SA will be able to join in the fun. Part of the
exciting line up for Funderland includes FunderTalent, the largest national
talent search competition in SA. Its open to everyone, easy to enter and
unbiased.
Best of all, there are no limitations: FunderTalent is for absolutely
anyone who has had a burning desire to get up onto a stage and perform! Show
the world what you have to offer by conveniently entering online without having
to wait in long queues or drive a long way to audition centers. Funderland
wants to ensure that it is easy for anyone and everyone to showcase their
special talent. There are no grumpy judges to impress – your
performance is shown on Facebook and voted on directly by the public via an SMS
line. You could become a national, or even international star - all you need to
enter is an awesome talent, an internet connection, and a 60 second video clip
of your talent performance. Film yourself performing your talent – whether it is
singing, dancing, whistling, magic tricks or even glass blowing! Then upload it
onto the Funderland Facebook page under one of the following categories:
FunderSinging, FunderBands, FunderTalent, FunderDJ and FunderDance.
Even more excitingly, the competition will have a Kwaito category, so
that budding Kwaito stars can go from being undiscovered talent to showing the
nation what they can do. Again, all they need to do is film themselves performing
– you can do it from the palm of your hand with a cellphone, and upload
it onto the Facebook page. The competition will have one overall winner as the
2018 FunderTalent Superstar and one winner as the 2018 Funder-Kwaito Superstar
Once videos are uploaded the public will vote on the top 25 acts in
each category. From there, the semi-finalists will get the opportunity to
perform on stage at one of the 4 national Funderland venues in 4 provinces.
Each province will have elimination rounds to select one regional Funder Talent
finalist and one regional Funder-Kwaito finalist. These finalists will perform
against the other regional champions for the top spot.
Creative Director of Funderland, Michael Bender, says: “This is a
platform for discovering new talent in the youth of South Africa. The FunderTalent
competition was created to awaken the creativity, potential, talent and purpose
in South Africans. So, we encourage everyone to live their dreams, and grab the
opportunity to find fame as we search for the amazing undiscovered talents that
we know exist in our country.”
Entries will open on 15 January 2018 for the Western Cape…so don’t waste any time!
Start rehearsing your acts and be sure to enter your best video clip. Videos
may not be longer than 60 seconds to a maximum of 500 MB in size and can be
uploaded to Facebook, Instagram or directly to the Funderland website.
All entries for the Western Cape round, will close strictly at midnight
on 28 February 2018. To enter, please click on this link to download your entry
