Sun International’s Time Square is already delivering on its promise to bring the world’s biggest bands to Pretoria with the announcement that the legendary +LIVE+will be the first international music act to grace the stage as part of the awesome lineup of entertainment to mark the opening of the state of the art Sun Arena in November 2017.
The only venue of its kind in Pretoria, the 8 500 seat Sun Arena will play host to international and local concerts, exhibitions and lifestyle events – marking a new era in entertainment for the area. According to Brett Hoppé, the General Manager of Time Square, bringing +LIVE+ to Time Square is the start of more to come.
“We have made the promise to bring the biggest and best in entertainment from around the world to Pretoria which has historically been missed by international touring artists. +LIVE+ at our Sun Arena is part of this promise. We are putting together a lineup second to none to celebrate the grand opening of the Sun Arena in November,” he says, adding that tickets to Afrikaans is Groot, the country’s largest and most successful Afrikaans music event, which will be hosted at the Sun Arena in mid November have already sold out.
+LIVE+, on 10 November, will undoubtedly be one of the main highlights of the Sun Arena’s opening lineup. Ticket sales go live tomorrow, Thursday, 25 May 2017 at 09h00 via Computicket. Fans are urged to move quickly as tickets are expected to sell out fast. Tickets are priced from R495 to R795. A limited number of VIP Meet & Greet packages are available.
The concert features the original +LIVE+ band members – Ed Kowalczyk (vocals, guitar), Chad Taylor (guitar, backing vocals), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums, percussion) – who recently reunited for this worldwide tour.
2017 will mark the 25th anniversary of their debut album Mental Jewelry (released December 31, 1991). The multi-platinum band from Pennsylvania has sold over 22 million albums worldwide and has earned two number one albums (Throwing Copper, Secret Samadhi). Their catalog is filled with such gems as “Lightning Crashes,” “I Alone,” “All Over You,” and “Lakini’s Juice,” which live on today as classics at rock radio.
The original line-up of +LIVE+ performed their last show in July 2009 before going off in different directions. Rediscovering their friendship has healed old differences, setting the stage for the four members to come together to make music again.
