Sibaya is the battleground for Jungle Warfare – the third instalment of KWESE Friday Fight Night Series

The third installment of the KWESE Friday Fight Night Series takes place at Sibaya this Friday, 26 May 2017. The tournament, dubbed Jungle Warfare, features two African Boxing Union title fights at Sibaya’s Sun Park.

Angolan Superstar Cristiano Ndombassy headlines the bill making his first defense of the ABU Super Welterweight title he won at the Wild Coast Sun earlier this year; he meets the challenge of former WBF International Champion Norman Tshivikhane from South Africa. The co main event sees Durban local David Rajuli take on the hot prospect and former decorated amateur star Lunga Sitemela for the vacant ABU Lightweight title.

Jungle Warfare is going to rock Durban, ten fights, two ABU titles and some of the best up and coming boxers from Africa will make for a night to exciting boxing,” says Steve Kalakoda, Kalakoda Promotions.

“We are extremely happy as the African Boxing Union to be working with Kalakoda Promotions, their partnership with KWESE Sport and the vision to reposition Pan African boxing aligns with our organisation’s mandate,” says Dr Peter Ngatane, ABU Vice President.

The remainder of the bill pitches a crop of KZN based fighters from a cross section of local communities such as Chatsworth, Balito, Umhlanga and the Bluff against boxers from across the African continent. Chatsworth heavyweight hopeful Marc Subromoney is due a good performance after a lacklustre outing at the Wild Coast Casino in March, he faces Jean Lutete from the DRC. Bluff prospect Brandon Naude takes on Saidi Omarhi Muhamad from Tanzania in an all action lightweight bout. Umhlanga cruiserweight Chris Thompson under the guidance of highly rated trainer Gert Strydom and based in Johanesburg makes his anticipated debut in front of his home crowd. South African Middleweight contender George Mdluli squares up against Nigerian Harrison Areleju Johnson.

Another notable fighter on the undercard is former EBU Amateur Champion Vladyslav Sirenko from the Ukraine who takes on South African Petrus Cilliers. Sirenko is a highly rated European prospect that has relocated to South Africa and will be fighting on Kalakoda bills building his record on the African Continent.

Besides the boxing this event guarantees further entertainment with official beats between rounds from DJ Switch who will host the events official after party. Tickets are on sale at Computicket and are priced at R500 for ring side seats, R250 seated and R100 standing.

With another 11 shows scheduled for the remainder of 2017 by Kalakoda Promotions and events taking place in cities across Africa, the KWESE Friday Fight Night Series is unprecedented and set to reposition boxing on the continent.
