Celebrate Youth Day with spectacular emerging songstress

Passionate about offering emerging talent a platform to perform, Golden Valley is proud to present up and coming songstress, Celest Schoeman, accompanied by John E, for a one night only show at the Winners Sports Bar on Youth Day, 16 June 2017.

Recognized for her appearances on The Voice South Africa, Schoeman has been singing since the tender age of seven when she nervously sang at a large family gathering to celebrate her grandmother’s birthday. The young singer, who hails from Cape Town, thereafter regularly participated in karaoke competitions, concerts and other events while growing up. It was at the age of 13 that her singing went to the next level. She began performing at gigs arranged by her dad and by the age of 14, she had started winning singing competitions.

Amongst these were the The Westgate Mall Voice Search in Mitchell's Plain which at the time was quite popular and got a fair amount of national media coverage as well as the Teen Idols competition which was hosted at the Joseph Stone Auditorium in Athlone. At 17, she won a competition at the Artscape Opera House called Die Huisgenoot Tiener Talent Kompetisie. As part of her prize, she got to perform at Die Kaapse Jol where she performed alongside Loyiso Bala, Bobby Van Jaarsveld, Brandon October and Nia Nel, just to name a few of the many great artists who were on the bill.

The technical strength of her vocal delivery and the string of achievements she has racked up over the years, belie the fact that she has had absolutely no formal training. There is however no doubt that she has through the years been working on honing her talent. She is very active in the community she so proudly calls home and is currently working on launching new projects with the Proudly Strandfontein programme.

Celest and Jon E take to the stage at Golden Valley from 21h00. Tickets are available at the cash desk for R100 per person. For more information contact 023 348 7200 or goldenvalleyinfo@suninternational.com.
