Puss In Boots At Gold Reef City.

The love of Fairy tales, and the love of Theater, go perfectly hand in hand when they are put together. So of course when the news broke out about Puss In Boots coming to Gold Reef Theater, Lyric Theatre, I HAD to be there. And boy I was happy I did go. The pantomime was brilliantly hilarious, and cleverly done so that the adults (or older teens) could have a good laugh (shock horror gasp moments) but subtle enough for the kids not to get it.

The set and costumes were brilliant, colourful and brilliantly put together. I loved the colours of the set, and the ability for them to such quick set changes, was great. I know that in theatre you need to be able to do it, but some productions just are not able to accomplish the smooth and quick transitions. This one did, and it was great!

The acting was hilarious and made the show that much more funny and lively. The actor who portrayed Puss, Earl Gregory, did such a good job at bringing the well-known cat to life. His characteristics and voices were on point. His emphasised his words and actions in a feline like manner, he graced others with his stage grabbing performance, and his boots, well they made him Puss in Boots. The other actors were just as good, and I loved the big ogre and small goblin that was the villain of the show. The transitions of the villain into his various characters was done brilliantly.

The Lyric Theatre, at Gold Reef City gives off an old renaissance feeling with beautiful big chandeliers, and golden painted arches and stilts. It gives that feeling of old beauty and magic that the theatre used to be. It is by far one of my favourite theatres. So that just added a little bit of extra adventure.

Puss in Boots is must see if you are an adult looking for a laugh or a child who loves to watch shows!!! Extra show info is available below:
