Pinterest Inspired Blue Eyed Diva Look

Listen! Trying to artistic eye makeup is not as easy as it may look. It is frustrating, time consuming and hard to execute. But... it is also fun, a challenge and super rewarding if you get it right or even close to right. For this look I really wanted to try something new, and different. It was absolutely that. This look took me over an hour and a half to perfect, and even that was not perfect. However I really did enjoy trying it out.

I was inspired by a makeup look I had seen and saved on Pinterest. It looked so beautiful and dangerous, so that is when I was like..."let's give it a whirl", and it didn’t turn out too badly.

The products I used were readily available products, for the foundation, contour and blush I used the same NYX products as in the first video, they are my new fav products for the base of my face. Then I used a combination of the Dischem House brand make up product that is a Swirl Eye Shadow Pallet, the NYX Blue Liquid Liner and Crystal Liner. To finish off I used the Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash for my lashes, which is my absolute best mascara because it really extends my lashes.

The thing is, many girls, including myself until now, would not dream in a million years to try a look like this because they may be afraid to be too daring, too out there or to shy to be so bold with a look. Well I am here to tell you, you are beautiful, and don’t need make up to hide behind. However, make up is like art and is able to let someone show their emotions, artistic abilities and enables one to express who they are or even who they want to be. Never be afraid to let your light shine amongst the animosity of others. The only person you need to be is yourself, and if you want to try new things, DO IT. Don't ever let someone else define who you are or who you should be. Be you, because you are beautiful.

FUll Face using only NYX products.

After I attended the "World of NYX" launch at Menlyn, I was hooked on NYX products. We received a goodie bag full of amazing nyx products, but I still felt the need for more. So I went to my nearest Clicks store and found a whole stand full of products, and the nest part was that they were running a special of buy two products and get the cheapest free. I am always on the hunt for great products at a good price. Sales and discounts are my BEST FRIEND. Not because I am a cheapskate, but why must I pay more something when I can get it for less and get more for my money.

SO when I decided to start my YOUTUBE channel after months of wanting to, I thought what better product then NYX to get me started on the make up front, and let me tell you, what a good choice. In this video I used the Matt Foundation, the Contour and Highlight Palette, the Ombre Blush, the Sparkle Liquid Liner, the Ultimate Eye shadow Palette, Two Lingerie Liquid Lips.

I loved all of the products, the only product that gave, me grief was the foundation, when I opened it, the foundation seemed to have separated and it was very watery. What I mean is, when I squeezed to get product out, a watery substance squirted out at me, then only the product came out which I had to mix together to make sure it was not going to curdle on face. I saw this happen from the tester in the shop, but I thought that the tester was perhaps old. But what I do think happened is that the heat wave South Africa had in December affected it. But I still love the products, I was just slightly disappointed.

My favourite product I used in the video was the liquid lip, it’s my favourite liquid lip at the moment because it's dries thin almost like there is nothing on your lips, it stays on forever and the colours are amazing. I would recommend NYX to anyone and Everyone who would listen.

Award-winning stage show, Beautiful Creatures, a must see for the whole family this December

Award-winning stage show, Beautiful Creatures, a must see for the whole family this December

Johannesburg (November 2016) - Beautiful Creatures in association with Blu Blood are excited to announce the return of the award-winning children’s stage production, Beautiful Creatures, at the Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace from the 8th to the 18th December 2016.

Following on the huge success of their shows in 2010 and 2011, this fun, educational and interactive 60-minute show is back by popular demand and features some of Beautiful Creatures’ most loved characters.

The musical tells the story of the shy and quiet Imvubu the Happiest Hippo and how he got to be so happy.  We join him on his journey of self-discovery as he befriends Mafutha the Elephant, learns dance steps from Tallulah the Tortoise and finds his “inner roar” with the help of Lucas the Lazy Lion.

This popular South African children’s brand was created in 2004 by Alan Glass, Ed Jordan and Paul Choritz.

Using the best session musicians, actors and singers, Beautiful Creatures prides itself on being uniquely South African with a positive global message,” says co-founder, Paul Choritz.

The last five years has seen them releasing seven albums which have achieved multi-platinum and gold album sales in South Africa, as well as four children’s books (their fifth book ‘Underwater Zoo’ will be released in 2017) and a series of educational toys.  They have also received two SAMA nominations and received the Naledi Award for Best Children’s Production in 2010.

In a world where parents and children have limited quality time, Beautiful Creature’s mission is to bring families together offering a uniquely South African brand with an educational and positive message,” adds Alan Glass.

The production is directed by esteemed director and actress, Gina Shmukler.

“Beautiful Creatures is a must for the whole family.  There is a message in every single song.  I think the whole world will fall in love with Beautiful Creatures once they see the stage show,” comments Ed Jordan.

Tickets cost R85 and are available through Computicket online (http://online.computicket.com/web/event/beautiful_creatures/1083202143) and various Computicket outlets.

Emperors Palace is located at 64 Jones Road, Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood Review

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood

On the 6th of November, I had the chance to go and see Janice Honeyman's Robin Hood Panto. Here are my thoughts on it...

I have seen every Panto for the last three years, and previously through school. I love seeing them every year. This year was different. It was by far my favourite. The humour was top notch amidst the political turmoil that is surrounding the world right now. I haven’t laughed so much in a long time. What I really loved, was that normally the Panto brings in a major technical aspect, like a helicopter, or a giant spider, and this year there were the normal cars being involved, but the cast and the story line made the show so great. Don’t get me wrong, I love the technical aspects that are always showcased during the show, but it shows that sometimes you can go back to basics and make an impression. Now let’s go back before I really put two feet in it. The stage, lighting and props were amazing...as always. My point is, that even if there were no amazing backdrops and the cast were wearing paper bags, the show would be amazing because of the content presented.

I would honestly recommend taking your kids, but not only kids would enjoy this, this show is amazing for all ages and is guaranteed to make you laugh and think about political issues in a different light. All ages, races, religions will enjoy this show.

Over 30,000 tickets had already been sold before the opening of  this year’s panto, so best to hurry and get yours now for South Africa’s most popular family entertainment tradition.  Tickets are available by visiting www.joburgtheatre.com or calling 0861 670 670, as well as through Webtickets and at Pick ‘n’ Pay stores. For group bookings of 10 or more, contact the theatre directly on 011 877 6853/6815.

A HAUNTING ON FOX:
Dare To Be Scared at The Good Luck Bar on Saturday 29 October

Joburg's premier #Halloween dress-up party returns on Saturday 29 October featuring two terrorific stages, frightening decor and so much more! After the huge turnout at our ‘A Haunting on Hurlingham’ party last year, the need arose to find a larger haunted venue and so we move to The Goodluck Bar at 1 Fox for ‘A Haunting on Fox’.

Boasting a phantasmagoric line-up that includes Sketchy Bongo, Kyle Watson, L.A Cruz, Kimon Rayne, Das Kapital and many more to be announced, it's the dress up party of the year where all the cool ghosts and ghouls gather. Expect the unexpected, the macabre, devilishly detailed decor, the dying wish wall, and so much more... Who will be crowned the King and Queen of our Halloween?
The venue itself holds an eerie history to add to the setting for this very scary evening. 1 Fox, where The Good Luck Bar is located, was one of the first mining camps that sprung up at the time of the discovery of gold in the 1880s, which makes you think… do some of these miners still haunt the halls and rooms of 1 Fox?

Be warned!! This party is not for the weak of heart ... Enter if you dare.

From the producers of Little Shop of Horrors, Cabaret and more recently Sweeney ToddKickstArt now brings Jozi audiences the musical stage adaptation of DreamWork’s global movie phenomenon Shrek!, set to delight old and young during the June/July holidays.

The talented local 28-strong cast will be bringing these instantly recognizable characters to life in this fabulous, fun, charming and hugely funny musical.

The leads are portrayed by Lyle Buxton (Cabaret, Annie, Beauty and the Beast, Sweeney Todd) as ShrekRory Booth (Xtrafactor, Puss in Boots, Aladdin) as Donkey and Jessica Sole (Cabaret, I Love You You’re Perfect Now Change, Orpheus in Africa) as Princess Fiona.

Also in the cast are Jacobus van Heerden (Popcorn, Little Shop of Horrors, The Ladykillers) as the diminutive Lord Farquaad; Graeme Wicks (Sweeney Todd, Aladdin) as PinocchioCharon Williams Ros as Gingy the Gingerbread Man and a ferocious fire-breathing dragon.... With a huge cast of fairytale characters, and a chorus of tap dancing rats!!

The stellar cast also includes; Ashleigh Harvey, Kyra Green, Luciano Zuppa, Samuel Hyde, Daniel Fisher, Tumelo Tokgwi, Senzo Radebe, Zchane Zietsman, Shani McLea, Sarah Richard, Caitlyn Thompson, Sarah Falconer and more.

The Johannesburg premiere of the hit Broadway show Shrek The Musical will be the first of many major productions to be staged at Gold Reef City following the completion of the recent multi-million Rand redevelopment; the premiere entertainment destination in the south of Johannesburg.

The recent extensive refurbishment and expansion of Gold Reef City has created a perfect opportunity for us to stage this superb and larger-than-life Broadway inspired musical adaptation of the hit movie “Shrek”.  This magnificent production will feature a large cast, spectacular music and great humour that will delight both children and adults alike”, says Noeleen Bruton,  Director of Marketing –  Tsogo Sun Group.

Shrek the Musical is directed by Steven Stead, designed by Greg King, choreographed by Janine Bennewith, lighting by Tina le Roux with musical direction by Rowan Bakker. It is based on the 2001 DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture Shrek! and the book by William Steig. The musical adaptation has book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori.

Shrek the Musical has become a global phenomenon with productions staged internationally including on the WestEnd and Broadway. With an enormous cast, a fabulous score; speedy set changes; extravagant costumes, prosthetics and make-up – this is quite possibly one of the most challenging and elaborate productions staged by multi-award winning producers, KickstArt. It promises to be quite extraordinary, deliciously funny and a joyous romp for the whole family!

The story revolves around a benign ogre named Shrek who lives contentedly alone in a swamp. However, his solitude is disrupted when a band of disgruntled fairytale creatures show up on his property after having been banished from the Kingdom of Duloc, on pain of death, by the evil Lord Farquaad.

Irritated by having to share his swamp, Shrek journeys to see Farquaad  with the intention of regaining his privacy. On the road, he rescues a talkative donkey who insists on tagging along to show him the way. Shrek and Donkey arrive in Duloc where Farquaad demands that Shrek rescue his intended, Princess Fiona. The two unlikely friends set off to save Fiona. After a quest involving a fire-breathing lady dragon, Princess Fiona is “rescued” from the tower by Shrek. On the way back to Duloc, Shrek and Princess Fiona get better acquainted and Donkey tries, unsuccessfully, to match-make them.

As Princess Fiona and Lord Farquaad are about to be married, there is an uprising from the fairytale characters, and Princess Fiona realises that Lord Farqaad is perhaps not her champion after all. And in the tradition of all good fairy stories, the villain is vanquished, the hero finds true love, and they all live happily ever after....

A highly successful inaugural season in Durban in 2015 garnered the production seven awards in the prestigious Mercury Durban Theatre Awards (2014/5) including; Sound Design (Stephanie Pais), Lighting Design (Tina Le Roux); Director (Steven Stead); Supporting Actor: Musical Theatre (Jacobus van Heerden); Lead Actress (Jessica Sole); Lead Actor (Lyle Buxton) and the coveted Musical Theatre Production Award.

In the recent BroadwayWorld.com 2015 Awards, Shrek received two further awards; for best Costume Design (Greg King) and Best Family Friendly Entertainment.

And now it’s Jozi’s turn to enjoy this Shrektacular theatre production that’s been turbo charged as it brings a favourite movie to life on stage!
