Joburg’s summer social calendar just got hotter with the announcement of the return of the annual Prime Fest music and lifestyle festival.  The annual family-friendly festival, hosted by Prime Circle and Hot 91.9 FM, returns for its second year on the 5th of October, 2019 at Casalinga in Muldersdrift and will feature a powerhouse line-up of some of South Africa’s brightest and top music acts.

The royal flush of SA music giants confirmed to share the stage alongside Prime Circle includes The Parlotones, Just Jinjer, Jack Parow, Freshlyground, Mango Groove, Wonderboom and Shut Up It’s Sunday, with several more acts to be announced.

The festival was launched in 2018 following Prime Circle’s album release of If You Don’t You Never Will.  The band decided that it was time to make their dream of starting their own music festival a reality and with the help from some friends, they managed to pull off a festival of epic proportions.

“We are so excited for the second Prime Fest.  Last year was an amazing experience where we learned a lot and now we can add and make this year even better. We've put together an incredible line-up of artists who've had great success over the years and this will be first time we have all played on the same stage and look forward to some exciting collaborations," comments Prime Circle frontman, Ross Learmonth.

Apart from the star-studded music line-up, the festival combines an outdoor experience with a wide range of food and craft stalls, kids play area and many more activities for the entire family.

100 Bullets author Brian Azzarello joins the Comic Con Africa 2019 roster

  Reed Exhibitions Africa and ReedPOP today announced that acclaimed American author Brian Azzarello has been added to the list of international guests appearing at Comic Con Africa in September 2019.

Azzarello, seasoned author, most notably known for his work on the Harvey and Eisner award-winning 100 Bullets series, will be joining authors Will Sliney and Donny Cates at this years’ Comic Con Africa. During the four-day event, Azzarello will participate in a panel discussion and fans will get an opportunity to interact with him and his fellow panellists during an autograph session thereafter.

The New York Times best-selling author has published several works for DC Comics including: Hellblazer and Loveless both with Marcelo Frusin, and Superman: For Tomorrow with Jim Lee. Other popular collaborations were the published works Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, The Joker graphic novel, and Before Watchmen: Rorschach with Lee Bermejo. Azzarello also wrote Comedian with J.G Jones and Sgt. Rock: Between Hell and a Hard Place with Joe Kubert.

In 2011, Azzarello became the chosen writer for DC's relaunched Wonder Woman series, entitled Absolute Wonder Woman with artist Cliff Chiang. His most recent ongoing series is Batman: Damned.

Some of the media were fortunate enough to get a taste of the new menu and what's to come, and let me just say, I LOVED IT. I am not an expert in food or drink, but I can give my honest opinion about what I experienced and how it was for me. 

We had a whole afternoon of surprises lined up for us as we were there for the media launch of CASH IS KING, but first of the list was a taste of new Canapes from Publicity Pub and Grill at Silverstar Casino. (In the Presidential Suite at Southern Suns Silverstar, I might add) These consisted of a variety of tasty treats including spicy cheese grillers, spicy fish cakes and finely sliced steak on garlic bread with a drizzle of sweet onion.

After the festivities,we were given a real treat of, in my opinion, real South African essence in the food we were given. For example, we had a variety of foods ranging from mini burgers to mini Bunny Chow ( A real South African FAV), continuing on there was spring rolls and jalapeno rissoles, salads, ribs, chicken wings and the list just goes on. Along with the great food, we got to play a Quizz game, as if were there on Thursday nights, we only played three rounds, but it was great fun.

Not only was the food great, but the service was impeccable as well, they have really taken the constructive criticism they have received in the past and made the everything amazing. The food is better, the service is better and experience are better so it is a WIN WIN.
