When Richmark Holdings sets out to “Make a Difference” then nothing can
stand in the way. This August, the Head of Marketing and Events at Richmark
Holdings, Tanya Harvey, took part in the SheEO SleepOut™, which was the
2017 Special Chapter of the CEO SleepOut™. In true Richmark
style, Harvey rose to the challenge of raising as much money as possible for the
beneficiary of the sleepout, Doors of Hope, a shelter for vulnerable and
abandoned children. Her efforts were rewarded when she was nominated as the
Leading Agent of Change for the 2017 SheEO SleepOut™. On Tuesday the
5th of December, at a ceremony including The Philanthropic Collection™
representatives
and her colleagues and peers, Harvey was presented with the prestigious Stop
Sign Award in recognition of her contribution to the 2017 event and the
difference she has made in the lives of the abandoned children that Doors of
Hope works with.
The CEO Sleepout™ is a global humanitarian effort that encourages business leaders and
influential people to experience the difficulties of spending a winter’s night sleeping
outdoors, so that they can empathise with the less fortunate who endure this on
a daily basis. Each sleepout event asks participants to pledge money and to
raise additional funds that can be donated to a worthy cause. South Africa has
been running the CEO Sleepout™ with great success for several years and in 2017, the ante was upped
with a special event aimed at inspirational South African women: The SheEO
SleepOut™.
Having participated in the 2016 sleepout, founder of Richmark Holdings
and well-known South African philanthropist Gavin Varejes immediately
encouraged Harvey to enter. He says, “Tanya is an
incredible force at Richmark, a dynamic and intelligent woman who accomplishes
anything that she sets her mind to. I knew that she would do us proud at the
sleepout and she has, having pulled out all the stops to become the leading
fundraiser of the event. Well done, Tanya, we are so impressed!”
Both Varejes and Harvey have reiterated what an impact the sleepout
experience has made on them. As Harvey notes, “As someone who has
the opportunity to go out and make a difference in the lives of those who are
less fortunate, this experience was a big reminder to constantly strive to make
a difference. Thank you to Gavin Varejes and Richmark Holdings for the
nomination and the support and thank you to The Philanthropic Collection™
for
hosting this amazing and worthy event.”
